The ancient Abbey of Bangor, founded in 558AD by Comgall, was one of the most important monasteries in early Europe, famed for its learning and austere rule. Comgall taught many men, most famously Columbanus and Gall who established many monasteries across Europe, and he also taught Laiseran (who founded Holywood Priory).Sundial
