Icebergs and Palm Trees, Percy French Exhibition

Percy French is well known for his songs about Ireland, most famously the Mountains of Mourne, and his beautiful watercolours of Irish landscapes. This exhibition, which marks the 164th anniversary of his birth, will celebrate the entertainer’s travels through original watercolours, sketches, letters and poems.

In 1910, French crossed the Atlantic to embark on a six-month tour of North America. Four years later, just before the outbreak of the First World War, he toured Switzerland. His vibrant watercolours of Quebec, New York, the West Indies and Switzerland will be displayed alongside the entertaining accounts he gave of his travels in the many letters he sent home.
