European Heritage Open Day

Come and view Bangor Castle, a large Victorian mansion built by 1852 by Hon. Robert Edward Ward in a Jacobean / Elizabethan revival style. You will have a unique opportunity to access this beautiful building and experience a behind-the-scenes escorted tour with costumed guide.

Serving as council offices since 1952, the interior includes decorative plasterwork and joinery, particularly in the current council chamber as well as a beautiful art collection.

This year North Down Museum will host a monk re-enacting illumination and Viking storytelling.

Guided tours of Bangor Castle will take place at 11am, 12noon, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm. Step inside this elegant building and learn about its ...history and the story of the Ward Family as you go from room to room.

The event runs on Saturday 14 September from 11am - 3pm.

Admission is free.
